What is psychotherapy about?
Psychotherapy is about creating a space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. It is about being listened to and heard. You can expect an open, curious and non-judgemental environment where your whole self and all parts of you are welcome. Psychotherapy is not about fixing or telling you what to do. It is something deeper.
Explain the approaches you integrate?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Encourages you to accept internal experiences while committing to meaningful actions aligned with personal values. It blends mindfulness with behavioural strategies to enhance psychological flexibility.
Body-oriented Psychotherapy
Integrates physical sensations and movement into the therapeutic process. It views the body as central to psychological experience and expression, recognising the mind-body connection.
Gestalt Therapy
Focuses on present-moment, here and now awareness and personal responsibility through experiential techniques. It emphasises the integration of thoughts, feelings, and actions for holistic self-awareness.
Humanistic Therapy
Promotes self-growth and personal fulfilment through empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. It sees individuals as inherently capable of healing and self-actualisation.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Views the mind as made up of distinct “parts” and aims to harmonise them under the leadership of the core Self. It’s especially effective for trauma and complex emotional issues.
Person-Centred Therapy
Emphasises empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard to create a safe space for self-exploration and non-directive facilitation of personal growth.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Explores unconscious processes and early relational experiences to understand current behaviour and emotional patterns. It fosters insight and emotional resolution over time.
Psychosexual Therapy
Addresses sexual concerns by exploring psychological, relational, and physiological factors. Through talk therapy, it explores the connection between mind and body related to sexual issues.
